I was born in Charlottesville, Virginia to a nurse and a carpenter. My love and appreciation of art started early in life from my father- who by trade a carpenter but an artist at heart. His paintings and sculptures adorn my childhood home, and he is and will always be my inspiration. I graduated from VCU, in Communication Arts & Design, with a concentration in Illustration. I married the man of my dreams, a potter, and my friend since high school. We moved around central Virginia, had two amazing children, many dogs (we love animals), and have finally settled in beautiful Lake Anna, Virginia. I converted one of our basement rooms into a studio, and the creating has begun to flow.

My pieces always begin with the eyes, finding the connection with each subject. Each person, each animal has magic that I can show with my drawing. I love relaying details and expressions of each subject through my artwork. I want each viewer to feel as I do when I am drawing the piece, the compassion for the subject. Every color I add, every line I draw is deliberate and contributes to the finished piece.
